Projek Penyelidikan Penerokaan dan Pemeliharaan Sumber Seni Ukir Kayu Melayu Tradisional adalah sebuah projek penyelidikan yang dilaksanakan oleh Institut Alam dan Tamadun Melayu (ATMA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia di bawah Geran Universiti Penyelidikan untuk tempoh setahun enam bulan mulai 1 Januari 2008. Projek ini mengkaji isu-isu berkaitan pendokumentasian, pemeliharaan dan kemudahan akses kepada koleksi khas seni ukir kayu Melayu. Koleksi ini adalah milik allahyarham Nik Rashiddin bin Nik Hussein, seorang pengukir tersohor yang berasal dari Kelantan, kini diurus oleh ahli keluarganya di Kandis, Bachok dan di Kota Bahru, Kelantan. Pangkalan data ini diwujudkan untuk memelihara koleksi seni ukir kayu milik Allahyarham Nik Rashiddin Nik Hussein dalam bentuk digital. Portal ini diharap dapat memberi sumbangan besar kepada penyelidik dalam mendapatkan ilmu serta maklumat berkaitan seni ukir kayu Melayu.
The research project on the documentation and presentation of research on the Art of Malay traditional wood carving was implemented by Institute of the World and Civilization (ATMA), National University of Malaysia (UKM) under the Research University Grant for the period of 18 month beginning January 2008. The project investigated issues related to documentation, presentation and facilitating creating access to the special collection on Malay Wood Carving. The collections belonged to the late Nik Rashiddin Nik Hussain, a master carver from Kelantan. The collection is now managed by his family in Kandis, Bachok and in Kota Bahru, Kelantan. The digital database was created to preserved the collection and uploaded in the malaycivilization.ukm.my portal development by ATMA. It is hoped that this portal will contributed significantly as an resource information for researchers on the art of Malay wood carving.
